Community Partners

Vibrant communities for a vibrant future
Keeping the communities we live in and work with vibrant is vital to the future of TransAlta USA. Each year, we invest in various programs that enhance our communities, specifically those programs focused on one or more of the following areas: education, arts and culture, the environment, and health and human services.

Investing meaningfully
TransAlta USA invests in areas of the community where we will have an impact over the long-term – typically significant, multi-year commitments that are designed to ensure program or initiative sustainability.

Our flagship programs are ongoing, large-scale projects and involve organizations such as the Centralia College Commons, the Pacific Northwest Center of Excellence for Clean Energy, area youth sports facilities, the Vernetta Smith Chehalis Timberland Library, donation of 1,000 acres toward the nonprofit Industrial Park at TransAlta for economic development, donating more than 2,000 employee manhours toward flood relief efforts, donations of $4 million to the United Way of Lewis County this past decade, and a kindergarten scholarship and eco challenge project. Each is an integral part of the community it serves.

We also support through employee-led efforts dozens of smaller initiatives that fill recognized local needs, benefit the community at large, complement our values, and involve our employees and retirees.
