Media Advisory – Contractor dies following incident

CALGARY, Alberta (Aug. 8, 2006) TransAlta Corporation, Clearwater Welding and Fabricating Ltd. and Suncor Energy Inc. regretfully report that the Clearwater employee working for TransAlta at the Poplar Creek Power Station on Suncor’s site in Fort McMurray has died in hospital.

The worker was involved in an incident that occurred on the morning of Friday, Aug. 4 at approximately 1:25 a.m.

TransAlta Corporation, Clearwater Welding and Fabricating Ltd and Suncor Energy Inc. are cooperating fully with the authorities to investigate the incident. The companies extend their sympathies to the family of the deceased.
