Adding up the benefits of the Wolfe Island Wind Facility

  • At the height of construction during the winter of 2008, over 400 people were employed
  • Approximately 271 person years of work was clocked during construction
  • From the start to finish of construction, the direct cumulative local benefit resulting from the project is approximately $25 million
  • Over the summer of 2009, more than 2,000 people participated in tours of the wind facility and spent time in the community
  • The Amenities Agreement with the Township of Frontenac Islands provides approximately $645,000 per year in additional revenue that will allow the Township to add services and enhance community infrastructure for the benefit of all ratepayers
  • The ongoing estimated local economic benefits, including royalties, taxes, the amenities agreement, plus operating and maintenance expenses will generate over $3 million annually
