U.S. Consumer Information on recent Telemarketing Fraud Activity (February 17, 2012) - Fraudsters purporting to be representatives from GreenEnergy.com have been making phone calls and sending text messages to residents in the U.S. offering free products. As part of the scam, the fraudsters are calling from toll free numbers (1-888-332-4963 or 1-888-246-9292) and asking the consumer for their credit history and/or credit card information. The website www.greenenergy.com is TransAlta intellectual property; however, these phone calls are not from TransAlta. TransAlta will never initiate a phone call where we ask for sensitive personal data like credit history, credit card information or social security numbers.
