Since 2001, AMSC has arranged for the supply of aggregated energy for those municipalities participating in the aggregation program and has partnered with multiple strategic partners over this period (including, most recently, Nexen Marketing).
AMSC has been advised that as of June 1, 2011, Nexen Marketing has sold its remaining power and gas marketing business (which includes the AMSC aggregation portfolio) to TransAlta Energy Marketing Corp. (“TransAlta”). Upon receipt of written assurances from TransAlta and Nexen that the transition from Nexen to TransAlta would be seamless, AMSC provided its consent to the assignment of the contracts which comprise the AMSC aggregation portfolio.
TransAlta has now assumed all of Nexen’s obligations under the AMSC aggregation agreements (including all energy supply and related retail services agreements with AMSC customers) until the expiration of the current aggregation term. AMSC has been advised that TransAlta has acquired the resources required to fulfill Nexen’s obligations including (but not limited to) the systems, processes, and human resources, and that AMSC customers should not experience any disruptions in service as a result of this transition.
