Our first power source

Alberta's river basins have been a source of renewable energy for over a century. Today, their waters power more than a dozen of our hydro facilities, including our Horseshoe plant which has been in operation since 1911. Some do much more than generate electricity. Those with reservoirs also help manage river flows and provide recreational opportunities everyone can enjoy.
