Bob Emmott is responsible for analysis of equipment maintenance and replacement as well as ensuring TransAlta's quality assurance processes are best in class.
Vice-President, Labour Relations and HR Services
Stephen W. Foster is responsible for all labour and employee relations activities, including labour negotiations across the organization. Additionally, he oversees all compensation and benefits, disability management, and payroll services.
Vice-President, Commercial Operations and Portfolio Optimization
Brett Gellner is responsible for commercial arrangements relating to TransAlta’s fleet of generation assets, in addition to acquisitions and divestitures.
Vice-President, Risk Management
Darlene Halwas is responsible for TransAlta’s risk management activities, including enterprise risk management and oversight of the middle office.
Vice-President, Coal and Mining Operations
Doug Jackson is responsible for the maintenance and operations of TransAlta’s coal and mining assets in Alberta, Canada and Washington, USA.
Vice-President, Renewable Operations
Cynthia Johnston is responsible for TransAlta’s wind and hydro operations. Ms. Johnston has more than two decades of industry experience, 15 of them with TransAlta.
Vice-President, Financial Operations
David Koch leads the operational finance teams for the Commercial Operations and Developmemt as well as the Generation business segments for TransAlta. Mr. Koch is responsible for financial accounting, reporting, planning and control related to the day to day business of TransAlta’s operations.
Vice-President, Regulatory Affairs
Sterling Koch is responsible for TransAlta’s North American regulatory activities at the provincial, state and federal levels with a focus on market design, market rule compliance and reliability regulation.
Vice-President, Technology and Innovation
Mark Mackay is responsible for the development and application of new power generation technologies including carbon capture and storage and leadership of the Keephills 3 power plant construction project.
Vice-President, Technology and Controls Integration
Alex McFadden has more than 25 years of experience in power generation and is responsible for TransAlta’s controls modernization project across the company’s coal fleet.
Vice-President, Gas Operations
Colin Mills is responsible for the maintenance and operation of TransAlta’s natural gas-fired generation assets.
Vice-President, Information Technology
Parviz Mohamed is responsible for information technology strategy, planning and implementation including associated business transformation projects for TransAlta’s worldwide operations.
Vice-President, Communications and Investor Relations
Jennifer Pierce is responsible for internal and external communications with a wide variety of stakeholders. Her portfolio of responsibilities includes investor, shareholder, community and media relations, employee communications, issues management, marketing communications, community investment and Aboriginal affairs.

Martin Ridge, Vice-President, Internal Audit joined TransAlta in April 2007.
Vice-President, Customer and Business Development
Rob Schaefer is responsible for the development of TransAlta's long-term customer relationships and the development of greenfield projects including wind, hydro, geothermal, and natural gas.

Hugo Shaw is responsible for centralized maintenance engineering, as well as engineering services that include project management, cost estimating and construction management.

Don Wharton is responsible for leading TransAlta’s sustainability initiatives, including implementing TransAlta’s strategic approach to environmental policy, climate change, and managing its carbon offsets portfolio.
