Dawn Farrell was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of TransAlta Corporation in January 2012. Dawn has 30 years of experience in the electric energy industry, having held a number of senior management positions at TransAlta and BC Hydro. Her business experience spans a variety of areas in finance, business development, strategic planning, commercial operations, energy marketing and sustainable development.
Chief Financial Officer
Donald Tremblay is responsible for all financial policy, planning and reporting, tax, treasury, risk management, internal audit and investor relations.
Chief Investment Officer
Brett Gellner oversees all strategic corporate investments, M&A, and greenfield projects. Brett was previously Chief Financial Officer of TransAlta Corporation. He is also President of TransAlta Renewables Inc.
Chief Human Resources and Communications Officer
Dawn de Lima is responsible for leading the human resources, corporate communications, media relations and general services teams.
Chief Legal and Compliance Officer
John Kousinioris is responsible for directing TransAlta’s legal affairs, regulatory compliance and corporate secretarial matters, government and aboriginal affairs and sustainable development.
Executive Vice-President, Enterprise Risk & Corporate Services
Cynthia Johnston became Executive Vice-President of TransAlta Corporation on September 1, 2011. She is responsible for Enterprise Risk Management, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, Engineering & Construction, Land and the company’s Project Management Office.
Executive Vice-President, Trading and Marketing
Rob Schaefer leads the Energy Marketing business unit at TransAlta Corporation, which manages and markets TransAlta’s third-party and merchant generation in the company’s core markets.
Executive Vice-President, Coal and Mining Operations
Wayne Collins is responsible for overseeing all of TransAlta’s coal and mining operations as well as corporate engineering and technical services.
Vice-President, Legal and Corporate Secretary
Maryse Saint-Laurent is responsible for TransAlta’s Board, subsidiary, corporate governance, corporate structuring, disclosure and securities compliance matters for TransAlta Corporation, and is responsible for directing all legal matters of TransAlta Renewables Inc.
David Koch is responsible for providing leadership and direction over TransAlta's financial activities and control, principally in the areas of corporate accounting and reporting, generation finance, accounts payable, taxation, systems and process improvement. He is also the Designated Chief Financial Officer of TransAlta Renewables Inc.
Vice-President and Treasurer
Todd Stack is responsible for all Treasury activities including corporate finance, credit, insurance, pensions and foreign exchange and interest rate risk management.
Vice-President, Gas and Renewable Operations
Gary Woods leads TransAlta Corporation’s Canadian Gas, Hydro and Wind Power Generation fleet. He is also responsible for the company’s corporate environmental, health and safety programs.
Aron Willis is responsible for the corporation’s operations and growth efforts in Western Australia including successful delivery of the 150 MW South Hedland Power Station currently under construction near Port Hedland, and the conversion of Solomon, a 125 MW diesel power station, to gas fuel with the construction of a natural gas pipeline.
