Stephen L. Baum

Mr. Baum was Chairman and CEO of Sempra Energy from July 2000 to February 2006, a San Diego‑based Fortune 500 energy services holding company formerly known as Enova Corporation. Previous to that, Mr. Baum was President, COO and Vice‑Chairman of Sempra Energy, from July 1998 to July 2000. 

Prior to that, he was Chairman, CEO and a member of the board of directors of Enova Corporation, the parent company of San Diego Gas & Electric (“SDG&E”) where he served in various officer positions including General Counsel. Before joining SDG&E, he was Senior Vice-President and General Counsel of the New York Power Authority. 

He has also held various legal positions, including General Attorney at Orange & Rockland Utilities, and as an associate with the law firm of Curtis, Mallet‑Prevost, Colt & Mosle in New York City.

Mr. Baum is a member of the board of directors of Computer Sciences Corporation.

At TransAlta, Mr. Baum is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Board.

Mr. Baum is a graduate of Harvard University (Cambridge, MA) and the University of Virginia Law School (Charlottesville, VA). He has also served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps.
