Celebrating 100 Years

Community matters

When power plants operate in regions for decades, the people and the operations become part of the social fabric of the surrounding community. TransAlta is committed to this relationship with our communities, and to supporting activities that keep our communities vibrant and strong.

Every day, our business is about powering people. Every day, our success is attributed to the communities that have powered us for 100 years.

The Centennial Book

As TransAlta celebrates its 100-year anniversary, we are pleased to share our centennial book Powering Generations: The TransAlta Story, 1911-2011. It took the energy, knowledge and dedication of many people to bring this TransAlta story to life. We would like to thank authors Dr. Robert Page and David A. Finch, Kingsley Publishing Services, Book Works, retired and current TransAlta employees (Harry Schaefer, Walter Saponja, Marshall Williams, Dawn de Lima, Jennifer Pierce, Chuck Meagher, Maria Cuartas and Elyse Nabata).

To our employees and friends - past, present and future - this book is dedicated to you. Please click on the image below to begin your interactive journey.
