Supply chain
TransAlta’s facilities have been a part of local communities for many years, in some instances decades. Our business is a key economic driver for many local economies. We strive to source materials and services from local vendors or suppliers wherever practical. When we have major maintenance or service requirements, we attempt to hire locally to fill those needs.
Where economies of scale can be realized, TransAlta may opt for wholesale purchasing. Also, if specialized skills are required, talent may be hired from other locations.
The company’s Human Rights and Discrimination Policy, instituted in 2009, dictates that hiring and procurement practices must adhere to company standards.
